  • PUMA x Salehe Bembury Hali 1 Pace Drops October 23: Basketball Tech Meets Bold Fashion

Model in yellow and blue basketball streetwear wearing Hali 1 Pace inspired sneakers

PUMA's next Hali 1 release takes the performance basketball formula into a much louder fashion space. The PUMA x Salehe Bembury Hali 1 Pace arrives October 23, 2026 in Sport Yellow and Elektro Blue, combining Tyrese Haliburton's signature platform with Salehe Bembury's distinctive design language and a colorway that looks built to stand out both on court and off it.

This is not a lifestyle sneaker pretending to be athletic. PUMA lists the Pace as a basketball shoe with max cushioning, a supportive cage, heel counter and high-abrasion tread, while the sculpted upper and saturated yellow-blue palette make it visually strong enough for modern sport-fashion styling.

Why the Hali 1 Pace Is More Than a Color Update

The Hali 1 is Tyrese Haliburton's signature basketball shoe, with Salehe Bembury involved in the design direction. For the Pace release, the strongest visual change is obvious immediately: the upper is drenched in bright yellow while blue details create sharp contrast across the shoe.

That makes the shoe easy to read from a distance, but the color is not the only reason it feels fashion-forward. The upper uses flowing lines and a supportive cage that creates a layered, molded look rather than the flatter paneling of a traditional basketball sneaker.

    Performance is still the foundation

PUMA describes the shoe as built for control, underfoot bounce and lockdown, with traction designed to support quick pivots. The styling may be loud, but the construction is still performance-led.

NITROFOAM Gives the Shoe Its Performance Core

PUMA uses NITROFOAM in the Hali 1 Pace, an advanced nitrogen-injected foam designed for lightweight responsiveness and cushioning. The brand also lists a heel counter for lateral stability and a high-abrasion tread pattern underneath.

    01
    NITROFOAM cushioning

Designed to deliver responsive cushioning without making the platform feel excessively heavy.

    02
    Supportive cage

The cage helps create lockdown while also becoming part of the shoe's sculpted visual identity.

    03
    Heel counter

Added structure at the rear is intended to improve lateral stability during basketball movement.

    04
    High-abrasion tread

The outsole is designed around traction and durability for court use.

The Yellow and Blue Palette Makes It Easy to Style Loud

Sport Yellow and Elektro Blue are not subtle, so I would not try to make the rest of the outfit compete. Black basketball shorts, a plain white or blue top and one yellow accessory would be enough for an easy streetwear look.

For a stronger fashion direction, oversized nylon trousers, a cropped technical jacket or a loose jersey can work well because the Hali 1 already has enough visual mass to anchor the outfit. The easiest trick is to repeat either yellow or blue once and leave the rest neutral.

That approach is very different from the polished gaming-inspired look of the PUMA x Street Fighter Chun-Li Suede. The Chun-Li pair is lifestyle-first; the Hali 1 Pace starts with basketball performance and then pushes into fashion through shape and color.

Why Salehe Bembury Changes the Feel of a Basketball Shoe

Salehe Bembury's work often emphasizes texture, flowing forms and unconventional proportions. On the Hali 1, those instincts fit naturally with basketball because support structures, cushioning and traction already give designers functional shapes to work with.

The result feels closer to wearable design than a simple signature shoe colorway. If the adidas x Willy Chavarria Megaride Bones represents runway ideas entering sports footwear, the Hali 1 Pace shows the opposite direction: a genuine performance shoe becoming visually strong enough to participate in fashion culture.

    Materials and Construction

PUMA says the upper is made from 63% synthetic material and 37% textile, with a textile lining and sockliner, synthetic midsole and rubber outsole. The upper also contains at least 20% recycled materials.

    Fit

Regular width with lace closure and a neutral pronation setup.

    Court focus

Max cushioning, supportive cage, heel counter and abrasion-resistant traction.

Release Date, Price and Where to Buy

PUMA US lists the PUMA x Salehe Bembury Hali 1 Pace at $130, with ordering scheduled to begin October 23 at 4 AM UTC. The October launch calendar confirms the same date. Pricing and availability can differ by country, so local PUMA stores should be checked before launch.

Where It Fits in the Current Sport-Fashion Wave

Mobzter's recent sport-fashion releases show three very different paths: the futuristic runway character of Willy Chavarria's Megaride, the collectible pop-culture styling of Chun-Li's PUMA Suede, and the earthy storytelling of the Aminé x New Balance 992.

The Hali 1 Pace adds something those shoes do not: it is unmistakably built to perform on a basketball court. That makes its fashion appeal more interesting, because the bold shape and color are not replacing function—they are sitting directly on top of it.
